Summary

Here is an unusually good Italian restaurant located near Chiang Mai University, away from the usual foreigner hangouts. First opened about 6 years ago, La Casa is a total dining pleasure. Wonderful authentic Italian food from a large menu, good wine list, outstanding decor and furnishings (wood finish, stained glass, flowers, candles), hyper-clean bathrooms with nicely-growing plants, attentive but non-intrusive staff: the list of high points just goes on and on. I am totally impressed with La Casa. In fact, this review was written after just one meal at this fine restaurant, not my normal practice, but the excellent dinner warranted immediate action.

If you happen to be a frequent diner or if you come with a large party, buy their discount card for only 100 baht and get a 10% discount on your food and drinks. They can accommodate small to medium parties downstairs and could handle large parties upstairs, but you probably should talk to them first.

Menu Favorites

Here is the list of what we had. Everything was excellent, but the minestrone (a dish I often eat) was the best I've had and the Rigatoni was a marvel with the perfect touch of garlic. I have the feeling that anything from the large menu would be equally tasty, and I'll be returning soon to sample the meat dishes and the desserts. I don't need the calories but I can't wait to taste them.
